Fractional Laser: Skin Rejuvenation, Stretch Marks & Lightening
At the Dr. Eser Agar clinic in Tirana we use a fractional CO2 laser for skin rejuvenation, stretch marks and skin lightening. These treatments differ from laser wart removal: the device is used with different settings.
Skin rejuvenation
The fractional laser creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin. In response the body sends repair cells and fibroblasts to the area; the fibroblasts produce new collagen, which improves the texture and appearance of the skin. The same treatment is used for skin spots such as sun spots, sometimes combined with a chemical peel.
Stretch marks
Stretch marks form when the skin stretches faster than it can adapt — typically during pregnancy, adolescence or rapid weight change — leaving micro-tears in its deeper layer. The laser reaches these deeper layers without bleeding; the collagen it stimulates narrows the marks and brings their edges closer. Stretch marks do not disappear completely, but they become less visible.
Skin lightening
Darkening of the skin is a natural response to chronic irritation such as waxing and shaving, friction, excessive cosmetics, sweating or tight underwear; genetics also play a role. A YAG laser works on the surface with a light peeling effect, while the fractional laser works deeper. Each session typically lightens the skin tone by half to one shade; the darkening becomes less visible rather than disappearing completely.
How is the treatment done?
Treatment is given in sessions, usually every 3–4 weeks. For deeper areas a local anesthetic cream is used. The duration depends on the size of the area. You can return to normal life and shower right after the session; improvement is usually noticeable after two sessions.
